Hot Chocolate is a year round treat in our house but it’s especially popular with my family at the Holidays and so easy to make!
No need to spend all your dollars at Starbucks when you can easily make your own hot chocolate mix at home for a fraction of the price and you can use any milk you like including dairy free options such as soy milk, almond milk, or coconut milk!

The Easy Way to Make Hot Chocolate Mix
There’s really nothing to this recipe but you will need to source some unsweetened cocoa powder.
We have used both Hershey’s Cocoa Powder which is very easy to find in most grocery stores and an Organic Cocoa Powder and both were declared a hit by my kids.
Next you’ll need some sugar, we just used regular white sugar but if you are Paleo or wanting to stay away from refined sugar then you can use coconut sugar as an alternative but just be aware that it will taste slightly different but still great.
When you are ready to make your hot chocolate you can simply microwave a mug full of your milk of choice (I prefer dairy free milk) if you are making one cup, or if you are making multiple cups it’s easier to heat the milk in a pan on the stove.
Then all you need to do is stir in the specific amount of hot chocolate mix required per cup, stir well, and taste and adjust the sugar if you need to and add your preferred toppings such as marshmallows, whipped cream, or chocolate chips.
How to Store Hot Chocolate Mix
All you need to do is ensure that the dry hot cocoa mix is stored in an airtight container. It will keep until the use by date on the cocoa powder you used.
